Clear Braces (often made of ceramic) and Lingual Braces are much less obvious. Clear Braces are tooth coloured and blend in very well with your teeth. Lingual Braces are fitted to the tongue (lingual) surface of the teeth so normally cannot be seen at all!
Clear braces are very strong though being ceramic can fracture. Modern clear braces do no stain though the elastics (O-rings) that hold the archwire to the brace can stain. Unless you eat a lot of curry, smoke, or drink a lot of black coffee, this generally isn’t a problem. Note that the elastics are changed each time you get an adjustment.
People choose ceramic because they “blend in” with the teeth and are less noticeable than metal. These are the type of braces actor Tom Cruise had.
Lingual Braces can be used in most situations and are often used in combination with Clear Braces.
