Removing braces from your teeth is quite simple and does not hurt. Normally our dental hygienist will remove the braces and polish the teeth; however sometimes the orthodontist will do this instead.
- The braces are squeezed and this enables the braces to come loose from your teeth. A small amount of dental glue normally remains on the teeth.
- This small amount of dental glue is polished off the teeth with a dental handpiece. Only the dental glue is polished off the teeth. Although it may feel a bit strange, it does not hurt.
- Then the teeth are cleaned thoroughly, including around the gums.
- Impressions of the teeth are taken so that retainers can be made.
- Photographs are normally taken so that we have a record of your finished result.
